Lucy Sparrow - Sew your Soul

Lucy Sparrow’s Sugar Rush

Beloved British artist Lucy Sparrow unveiled her latest large-scale installation, Sugar Rush, this December at Art Miami Fair. Sugar Rush is an American candy shop completely reimagined in Lucy’s signature medium — felt. The installation was open to visitors from December 2–7, inviting them into a colourful and nostalgic world inspired by the joy and sweetness of classic American candy stores.

Oh So Sweet!

Lucy Sparrow - Sew your Soul

For over a decade, Lucy Sparrow has captured the hearts of art lovers and curious passers-by alike with her playful, immersive installations made entirely from felt. Travelling the world, she’s transformed everyday environments into unforgettable art experiences – from corner shops and supermarkets to New York bodegas and pharmacies. Each installation is brought to life with thousands of meticulously hand-sewn felt objects, all lovingly crafted and painted.

Despite her lifelong love of all things colourful and sweet – and her many recreations of iconic confectionary in felt – Sugar Rush marks the first time Lucy had devoted an entire installation to the world of candy. As much theatre as it is art, her work disarms viewers through familiarity, inviting them into playful, nostalgic spaces where the everyday becomes extraordinary.

The Candy Shop of your Dreams

Lucy Sparrow - Sew your Soul

Lucy’s take on an American candy shop was overflowing with 35,000 handmade felt treats – from chocolate bars and jelly beans to iconic candies and jars of pick n mix favourites. Every bar, box, packet, and sweetie has been lovingly sewn and painted in Lucy’s signature style.

The walls were also decked out with hand-sewn candy posters and vintage-style signage, completing the illusion of a shop that feels sew sweet and sew real! Bursting with sweetness, Sugar Rush captured the magic of childhood trips to the sweet shop, inviting visitors to indulge in a feast for the eyes (and not a single toothache in sight)!
